Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

English 102, also known as English 12B, was designed to help students think critically and to analyze various pieces of British literature. After doing so, writing projects and discussions were completed to apply what they learned to the world in which they live. I would recommend this course because it can help students to further their critical thinking, interpreting, and writing skills to prepare for college. In this course, the teacher is there to guide his or her students on the path to becoming an adult writer. English 12B further expands students’ vocabulary and helps them to explain the evolution of the English language through a variety of textbook readings and exams. By taking this course, students will gain insight into the world in which they live.

    Course highlights:

Although the highlights were few in the English 12B course, they were insightful. With the aid of the teacher and a range of textbook readings, the English 12B course demonstrated the importance of thinking critically in an ever-changing world. The design of the projects further taught students how to write from their heart and to write on a deeper level acceptable for college. By using the variety of vocabulary provided in the course, a deeper comprehension of the English language could be acquired, as well. From taking this course, I gained critical thinking and analyzing skills as well as a deeper understanding of the English language. The projects in the course tested my abilities to write as an adult seeking a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree would. All of the knowledge and skills I gained by taking this course have prepared me for an education worthy of a university and I am grateful for it.

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

English 12B was a required course for me in high school; however, students considering this course should be prepared to participate in deep, meaningful discussions. In the Discussion Board of this course, students reply to topics which require them to analyze literature and apply it to the world in which they live. Taking notes on the discussion topics as a student begins the lessons can allow him or her to reflect upon the questions throughout their reading and be prepared to respond to them with valuable insight. Moreover, when the time arises to select a topic for the writing projects, it is essential for the students to choose one which they care about. When students pick a topic they care about, it allows for them to write from their heart and find research to support and elaborate on the opinions shared. Furthermore, using the teacher as a resource in this course is vital. The teacher supplies the students with valuable insight into the project directions and course, which can allow them to succeed in it. Following the teacher’s advice can be the difference between passing and failing in English 12B.
