Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this class because not only is it an IB diploma requirement, Mr. Kolk found many interesting ways to educate the class on fundamental biological processes and created an overall comfortable learning environment. The course isn't too easy, but it isn't too hard either, and you will be thanking him at the end of the year when you're about to go start your second year of IB Bio. While this course isn't as rigorous as the second year of IB Bio, this teacher is learning as we are. He did a great job for his first year teaching.

    Course highlights:

Some unforgettable parts of this class were learning how to draw and label the heart accurately, being able to go through the processes of ATP synthesis of the mitochondria and the chloroplast, and being able to explain how water can be absorbed from the dirt and travels feet up into the the leaves of the tallest trees. The IA's will only get better with time, but be sure to do them on time.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Do your IA on time, and even if your lab didn't turn out the way you wanted it too, admitting to failure is just a fundamental part of the scientific process. It's not necessary to become friends with the teacher, it's just likely that it will happen. Take every test more seriously than the last, and take as thorough notes as possible.

So if you are considering this course your textbook will always be your best resource definitly use it even if it is not assigned as homework study the chapter learn more on your own and you will be well prepared for class. Now after saying this if you are still struggling talk to the teacher he understands his goal is to help you succed and learn do jot be afraid to go up him he will always try to find a way to work something out with you all you have to do is approch him and ask.
