    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This was a required course for my major, but it was one of my favorite classes. The teacher did a great job of explaining even complex body functions and systems. The lab portion was my favorite part. Dissecting the cat was personally difficult at first, but I was able to put my personal convictions and enjoy learning, as the professor guided us through every step. She was patient, but she did push us to learn. It was a valuable experience for me.

    Course highlights:

My favorite part was the time spent in the laboratory. After the initial shock of having to dissect a cat, I really enjoyed learning about the cat's muscles and body functions, especially since we have a lot of the same muscles, just formed differently. You really form a good relationship with your lab partners and it carries over into studying for the class portion of the course.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Don't underestimate the class. Be prepared to read the literature and other materials several times. Print out the Powerpoint slides if they are provided for the class online. Learn how to take notes in a way that helps you remember. (Experiment with colors, pictures, etc.) Make flashcards and take them everywhere with you! Lastly, do your best not to get behind!

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I love Mrs.Emmons as a teacher. She was hard yet fair. The class had so much information that time management and organization were key.

    Course highlights:

I really enjoyed learning something that was very practical and useful. Learning about the body and how it works is intriguing. Learning about sarcomeres and how muscles work, and about hormones and how they affect the body really excited me about my future in nursing.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Flash cards saved my life! Also organization and reading the material is important. I also made sure I was eating healthy and getting enough sleep.
