    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I recommend this class with this professor because he truly cared for his students to succeed. Extra assistance was provided for this course which was called SI (supplemental instruction) where a tutor helped students 3 times a week outside of class. This helped me especially learn the material more. Also, the tutoring center was very useful in order to do well in this course.

    Course highlights:

Surprisingly I liked this course because I was able to challenge myself. It was tough, so when I understood something it was very rewarding.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Don't be afraid to take this course, even though many of you taking it have to. I highly recommend you take the time to study and get extra help if you need it, I know I did. Writing notes in this class was a lot but notebook checks were 50 points so I recommend you do them. Also he curves your grade at the end so as long as you got higher than the average score on each exam you will do fine (B or an A).

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Organic Chemistry provides the foundation of why and how the chemicals we use every day interact with one another. This type of understanding is what derives new tools and compounds that allow society's convenience and can potentially aid in the preservation of our planet.

    Course highlights:

This course provided me with the background in understanding how forensics identify wiped away oxidized blood splatter as well as methods to test the purity of pharmaceutical drugs. In general this course allowed for a well rounded understanding of how chemicals are made and broken down in the human body.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

In order to succeed in Organic Chemistry students need to study newly presented material daily using examples and concept word questions to fully develop an understanding for topics being discussed. By regurgitating material it will become like second nature and will provide ease when test day arrives.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

While taking this class Dr. Armendariz was more focused on us learning the content rather than just getting through the content. He was open to questions and would cover content as many times as need to allow us to learn. Dr. Armendariz planned the course to focus on what content we would need to succeed in CHM234.

    Course highlights:

the most difficult subject we covered was stereochemistry. You need to be able visual how a molecule would appear in space and how it will rotate allowing it to react in specific manners.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Ask plenty of questions and seek out help. If something is unclear it is unclear for other students as well. Each topic covered helps you understand future topics and can come up over and over again.
