Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Dr. Patel really knows his material and wants to help all his students succeed.

    Course highlights:

This course was great since the professor made it fun the learn the material. This classes teaches you the basics about statics which is needed for future courses.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Go to office hours for help. Look at the homework when they are assigned, don't wait till the last minute.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Yes, I recommend the course, but not the professor. Dr. Liao gave no reason of any care to his students. He failed 40% of the class. If that doesn't tell you anything, I don't know what will.

    Course highlights:

No highlights. I will have to retake this course with a different professor in order to fully understand the concept of solid mechanics and statics.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Do not take Dr. Liao. Take it with a different professor where reviews say he or she is a caring genuine person. Go to office hours.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Professor Liao knows the spots where students get confused. The homework and recitation correlates strongly with the exams.

    Course highlights:

Statics was the highlight. Statics is very similar to PHY 121, and a lot of the applications will seem natural if you were successful in physics. Dynamics is a whole different animal.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

There are several homework components to keep track of, which was difficult to manage at first. Keep a schedule for when different types of assignments are due (eg. written, Mastering, Adaptive mechanics). Otherwise, participation is key in this class. Do the poll questions and recitations seriously, and work on the hw a couple days before it's due. If you just do that, you shouldn't have to do a whole lot of outside studying. The concepts really shouldn't be too unfamiliar. Reading/Book not necessary.
