    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I had to take this course to fulfill a requirement, even though my major has nothing to do with computers. Topics were all new to me and were not explained very well.

    Course highlights:

Learned Excel and Access computer programs. I got the basics but had to do much of the figuring out on my own.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

If you are familiar with Excel and Access, you should be okay. Since it was all completely new to me, I had trouble with the concepts. I took this online for a 7 1/2 week time frame, and it was almost too much. At first, the professor would respond quickly. But soon the responses slowed down, and only vague hints given. I wasn't asking for the answers, just to see if I was on the right track.

    Course highlights:

Having learned to use Microsoft Excel will be very useful to when finding future employment.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

There is a lot of reading to accomplish. There are both tests on using the applications, as well as multiple choice quizzes on information about the industry.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Because it is a required course at ASU, many students find it to be very tedious and boring at times, however with Mr. McCarthy teaching, he finds ways to make the class enjoyable as well as make students laugh.

    Course highlights:

After completing CIS 105, I realized just how much I learned about computers and how much they make our business and professional lives easier.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

In order to succeed in CIS 105, I highly recommend asking questions during class as well as attending a tutoring session at least once a week so that you don't fall behind and are able to understand the weekly lessons.
