Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This course enables students to expand their knowledge of the Asian community and the history behind the Asian people.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course included learning about the conquering of Hawaii and the reluctance of Hawaiian natives to become a part of America. I learned that the American government came into Hawaii and forced natives to learn American culture.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Being open-minded is important when learning about the discrimination Asian people are faced with.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend it if you would want a deeper insight into how Asian Pacific Americans made their mark in history and their perspective in comparison to the White Narrative.

    Course highlights:

I learned a great deal of information about a few customs of Asian Pacific Americans that were pretty interesting. I also learned about microaggressions that people make everyday that may seem like they have good intentions but are generally bad. We saw how the White Narrative holds a deep and infused grasp of our society that the APA perspective questioned and interrogated throughout. We learned to question everything; and in part to take advantage and save the knowledge of our ancestors before it is gone from us (in verbal retrospects our ancestry and where we came from, who we are).

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

One thing i will say is that it is a difficult course for some. I suggest reading any opportunity you get for this class as there is quite some reading to do. i also suggest that as you read you think of a deeper meaning and understanding. That way it will be easier to complete the Critical responses that are due each Tuesday. Also there are class discussions in which he asks questions from the reading. Again, do the readings. He knows when you didn't do them and will provide you with a pop quiz. You will also have to do two poetry presentations, a magazine, and a community event paper within the semester. So just be timely and as organized as possible and you will be set. Don't forget about communication amongst your peers, it is important if you want a good grade. Since you all get the same grade.
