    | Would highly recommend.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I recommend this course because of how in depth the professor goes into the subject matter and you can easily tell how much the professor cares about his students because of his availability and quick response to any emails students may send.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of the course were the way that professor Wright would teach us the course information. He would include several quirky and nerdy comments that tied into the lesson and would entertain the students.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

I would advise other students to stay focused during his lectures and to not be afraid to go up to him before or after class to ask him a question. You should definitely email him if you have any questions about the course and he will respond to you as soon as he can with as much clear information as possible.

    | No strong feelings either way.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This class was taught partially by Professor Wright, but also by Dr. Marushia. While Prof. Wright was sometimes engaging, I found that overall, the course was boring, and Dr. Marushia was not very interesting at all.

    Course highlights:

We learned about general biology, covering: cells, mitosis/miosis, DNA/ RNA replication, transcription, translation, phylogeny, genetic mutation and variation, and evolution.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

The exams were all true/ false, and most students did very poorly on them. I would strongly recommend going to every lecture, and keeping note of the clicker questions, as they are extremely helpful for the exams.

    | No strong feelings either way.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This class was the first biology class that biology majors took freshman year. It was a large lecture class with a small recitation (or breakout) session. There was also a lab course requirement. The tests were multiple choice or true and false, while the recitation classes required pre- and post- assignments,

    Course highlights:

The lab class was definitely the best part of the course. There were fun experiments with two lab reports and a few quizzes. We learned a lot of basic biology concepts that allowed us to go into upper division classes.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Don't miss class. I think a large percentage of your grade can never be earned back if you miss a recitation or lab, so make sure you are there on time or they won't let you in.
