    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

Almost everyone who goes to ASU will take this course at some point. Williams allows collaboration among the students and doesn't assign too much homework (you can often finish most of it in class). I would definitely suggest taking this course within your first year, especially if it will be your only math class.

    Course highlights:

My favorite part of this course was working with the other students in small groups. I found a few people who shared my intellectual level and we were able to help each other through each assignment. Tests were a little more difficult, but we studied together and that helped. I wouldn't have survived that class without peer collaboration!

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

Study for the tests--use past assignments. Find a few people within the class who have a similar level of understanding so that you can teach each other concepts that you didn't understand in class. Even though you all are on the same level, each of you will understand some ideas better than others, so you'll be able to fill in the blanks for each other! Don't be afraid to ask for help from the TA if your whole group is stumped by a problem.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

He has you rely more on other students to help you when you have questions and sometimes they are also wrong, but he has plenty of different ways to help you study, especially for different learning types.

    Course highlights:

Finance, Geometry, Sets, Statistics, Probability. He covered-not too in depth, but in depth enough- the basics of the above subjects. The tests were proctored and not open book so it really challenges your knowledge on the subjects. A lot of it was stuff that you would use in the real world (if you aren't in a major that is math based).

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Manage your time effectively. In Foth's class, an assignment is due every night except for on the weekends. Depending on how easy math is for you will depend on how long it takes you to do that assignment. If you get a question wrong on a homework problem (you have three chances) you have a choice to do a similar problem. Do it! If you get it right, it'll take the one you got right or the one you got more points on which will help your overall score for that assignment.
