    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This class is no doubt a challenge, in fact the IOC at the end of the first semester is notorious for being one of the most stressful assessments of your IB senior year. Regardless of the difficulty associated with this class, it is no doubt a fun and rewarding class. It is good to challenge yourself, and you end up learning a lot- you become a pro at poetry! You also greatly expand your critical thinking, for you will we faced with countless confusing books.

    Course highlights:

So far I have learned how to develop my own thoughts and views on specific types of works. That is often you are graded on individual ideas that were not discussed in class, specifically within Socratic seminars and the IOC.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

This sounds depressing, but you should expect and prepare for the stress. There is a lot of work required to complete this class, you have to work hard for the A, and it is quite hard to get an A within this class. Be prepared for a lot of group work and discussions too. Always read the assigned books and try hard to follow the reading schedule. Lastly prepare for the IOC early in the year, keep all of the documents and poems in an easily accessible folder.

Do not procrastinate, and be prepared to go fast.
