    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This was a terrible class. The material in all intro Chem 1A classes are exactly the same. The presentation and comprehension of the material is another story. It really is a complex and overwhelming subject that needs much light shed upon it by a gifted instructed. Just like in mathematics a good teacher will make or break you comprehension of the subject. Neeta Sharma is everything you do not want in a teacher. She possess all the qualities of a hired tutor who hates their job and treats people who do not comprehend what they have been teaching for years as incompetent. She lacks all good qualities that make up a good teacher. Presentation of complex material in a simplified digestable manner, patience with students, original examples and relevant sample problems, light shown on common errors, real world examples and applications, motivation and inspiration to learn. I literally could have paid a 3rd grader to write out examples from a textbook and talk about power point slides while making students figure out labs on their own with instructions from a book. This class would have been better as a student talk class!

    Course highlights:

Out of 30-40 students that started the class the 12 that remained were extremely smart and helpful to each other; partially due to necessity from our teachers incompetence.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Take this class with someone that can explain concepts and lecture well. Someone that is patient and motivating.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Dr Omar is a very good professor. He wants all of his students to succeed and pass his class with a good understanding of the fundamentals of chemistry. He gives tons of extra credit opportunities and he is available for homework help regularly during his office hours.

    Course highlights:

I learned all the basics of chemistry including stoichiometry, solutions, the periodic table, electron configurations and orbitals, as well basic chemistry theories.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Show up to every class and lab and do all the extra credit exercises. There is no such thing as too many credits but you can have not enough.
