Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

A great opportunity to learn from other's ideas and thoughts on understanding literature. Great exposure to difficult material that must be read between the lines

    Course highlights:

I learned to think like the author in order to understand the message. I also learned that speaking up and participating in small groups or class discussions is imperative to your learning experience or else one will never know if one's thought was correct or could be improved.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Do not look up what text means online because most of the time that information is not correct or is not incomplete. Trust your own analysis because it might be true or could bring up analysis that was never heard of before

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Mr. Hallstrom is the best teacher I have ever had. Not only does his personality encourage students to open up in his class, but his activities invoke critical thinking that is often left out of a traditional classroom.

    Course highlights:

My critical thinking skill improved dramatically through this course, as well as my ability to analyze text and speak knowledgeably about the material. I also gained valuable experience speaking in front of an audience, and I lost my fear of participating in class.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

You definitely need to keep up with the assignments when Mr. Hallstrom gives them. He does not assign busywork, so everything has a purpose. Be honest with him about any problems you may be having in his class or elsewhere and he is willing to help out; be straight up if you don't complete your work too, because he is more willing to work with you if you're honest.
