    | Would highly recommend.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

She was my preferred instructor while at Cal Poly, the courses she taught were always easily understandable and the exams she gave reflected what was in our notes. There was of course a bit more thought to be had in each problem, maybe a cross section of different reactions from which to go but her exams were easy. Focus on the retrosynthetic questions in your preparations as this would generally be a good third or half of the exam.

    Course highlights:

I learned everything there was to know about the organic reactions, its been really useful in the extraction of various herbal oils in real life. Having a basic understanding of solubility traits for specific molecules has given me a confidence to properly identify which solvent to use in the work place and my individual projects. Organic extraction would probably be the most useful tool I gained in my organic series.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Focus your studies on being able to manipulate a molecule efficiently. Adding in alcohol groups, creating double and triple bonds from those alcohol groups to then add a carbon group. Learning how to precisely manipulate a molecule then attaching that molecule to another is probably the best area to focus your time and study. Think about the reactions you memorize as tools in a tool chest to adjust a molecule as you would adjust anything you are trying to create.
