Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course because it significantly improves writing skills and allows for an advancement in the amount of work one can handle. It is implied that this course teaches better writing skills, it really does. Anyone can tell you that their writing improved, but this course does more than that. It allows for creativity in writing and asks authors to go beyond those five paragraphs. It wants writers to dig deep into themselves and develop their own specific style that can be perfected. Not only this but it expands the amount of work someone can do within a specific time period. In reality, any AP class can do this. They help one to move beyond limitations and expand on their skills. At the beginning of the class, you'll question the amount of work given to you, but over time it will become natural. Then as you move on to higher level classes, the workload seems average, making you a more experienced student. Personally, as a high school senior taking three AP classes, the workload is natural. I know I am prepared for more rigorous work and that is because I pushed myself.

    Course highlights:

The major highlight of taking this course was the bonds made. In an AP class, especially an English one, people learn so much about one another. The class you are with becomes a little family and the teachers are more understanding. I made so many friends in my AP Lang class and I know it isn't limited to my class. Every AP class I take has new weird stories and I make new friends. The teachers are always quirky and understanding. Taking any AP course is worth it.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

To succeed in AP Lang I would recommend writing as much as you can. There is so much writing, but what else is there to expect from a course that is called language and composition. The key to becoming a better writer is to write, so writing is always a constant. Whether it is timed essays or group essays or small bell works about what you did over spring break. Writing is important. Not only that but it is in every career I can think of, so basically... it is important.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend it because while it is a challenging, and at times a frustrating, class, I was able to learn a lot about rhetoric and it did have it's fun moments. Rhetoric is the devices and strategies authors use to get you to feel a certain way about what they are writing. We read several books and articles in order to practice identifying devices, strategies, and the author's purpose.

    Course highlights:

I learned about the different types of satire and various devices. We also practiced writing for the essays for the AP test. We started off annotating the passage for devices and strategies and then we identified how they helped the author's purpose.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

DO NOT fall behind in your notebook. If you do the class will just get that much more difficult. Do not wait until last minute to complete any assignment.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

The amtosphere in there is amazing, the teacher is the best and there's no experience such as the awesome projects and assignments that connects from concept to concept, allowing us to use creativity from our own personality into our own writing.

    Course highlights:

The trials we had on the book the "Scarlett Letter" and the preparations behind the discussion, also our videos that we adapted into music and lyrics and taking a twist on books through our perspective and our joy to it.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Be on top of their work, don't slack behind because it could get tough, be orangized and detailed. Be specific with works and analysis. Don't be shy around other and use your understanding knowledge, it is okay to be wrong. Have confidence, not only in yourself, but in your writing and what you want to do in When I have the chance to adapt a concept outside the classroom environment and have a laugh about it. Even when the class is tough and I’m struggling to pass, a ridiculous laughter and amusement makes the class all worthy. An experience of pain with joy and the desire to increase my learning. The struggle is not the worst, but the lost of interest that degrades my motivation to pay attention and try, until it finally hits my in the face and the realization of failing and worrying, but when actually amuse myself that's the turn around. Concepts connecting to one another, due to my over thinking that's the torture. It's then when I laugh at myself and my worries. I focus to understand and find the humor in assignments and concepts, associating it with symbols of jokes instead of ridiculousness, is when a course is memorable. .
