Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would highly recommend this course. Mrs. Nordlund is one of the most amazing teachers I have ever met. She helps you get out of your comfort zone and write amazing poetry, short stories, and plays. She also pushes you to submit your work into different competitions which you might not do on your own. After taking this course, I have noticed that my essays in my other English class have improved.

    Course highlights:

One of the highlights of this course is the sense of community you feel when you take this course. I learned different writing techniques and how to avoid clichés in my writing. I now feel comfortable sharing my poetry to to others.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

If you are ever struggling with a prompt, ask for help, and if you have a different idea for a prompt, speak up! Mrs. Nordlund loves to shape the work around your interests.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course for a variety of reasons. First of all, this course allows for students to express themselves in different areas. It is a great way for students to vent what they feel or to let their talents shine out. Secondly, it allows for great opportunities. I was selected to attend a writing conference in Vermont that changed me as a person. In addition, students have the chance to walk across the stage at Carnegie Hall. All in all, it is a wonderful course that allows students to be free and be themselves, which is not often allowed in the classroom as there is structure that must be followed.

    Course highlights:

After taking this course for three years of my high school career, I have learned so much. Obviously, I have learned how to write prose, poetry, plays, and screenplays. However, I have also bettered my writing in my other classes. Before taking creative writing, I was not a very elaborated writer. In English class, my essays were poor. But, once I took this class, I was able to be elaborate and put more detail into my writing.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

To succeed in this course, you simply need to let your mind run free. There are hardly any restrictions, so it is allowed to let your imagination run wild. There will always be advice given on how to improve your piece of writing, I have learned that you should always listen to the advice that is given to you, and use it.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

Creative writing has opened up so many doors for me in terms of scholarships, essay contests, and more because of the way it has improved my writing.

    Course highlights:

The short story unit helped me the most because of the way it changed my writing style and gave me to the technique and finesse to express myself through writing.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Although the course is pretty easy, there is a lot of actual work put in to passing the class.
