    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I wouldn't recommend this course at River City only because of the teacher who teaches it. River City's only AP Chem teacher is Dornan, a teacher who is incapable of teaching. She would make many mistakes during lessons (which she rarely gave). Everyday of the class we were expected to work on a packet of Chemistry papers to work on. A packet which she handed out every 2 weeks and expected us to work on it by ourselves. This was the worst class ever.

    Course highlights:

I passed with an A even though the didn't teach.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Go over the textbook many times and try not to rely too much on the teacher.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course for those seeking to began their career in the medical field, science field, the opportunities are endless.

    Course highlights:

Doing experiments in the lab. I learned the room temperature has effect on atm.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

You will need to be serious about this course and study hard.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

If you are interested in pursuing a major in anything chemistry related, AP Chemistry will be of great aid to you. The instructor Ms. Dornan is very kind. She does not easily give up on any of her students; she is motivated to help every student pass her course. That being said, the class is not easy. There is a lot of material to cover in a short period of time. All of the concepts being taught are brand new. Most students will have never even touched on those subjects in a previous class. Students should be prepared to face the obstacles of this class.

    Course highlights:

This class was the first class that forced me to study. Usually, high school students tend to take it for granted that they will pass a class no matter what they do. These students are shocked to see the difficulties in college. However, AP Chemistry aids students in build a habit of studying, a habit and skill that will be very helpful in college. Also, the class touches on some amazing concepts that students have never learned before. It allows students to learn new ideas, not just build upon old ones. For example, we learned about stoichiometry, thermochemistry, chemical reactions, and much much more.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Do not take it for granted that you will pass. It is a very difficult class, assumably the most difficult class a high school may provide. Come prepared to face these challenges. Also, make sure you have enough time to contribute to the hours of studying it takes to earn a good grade.
