Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

General Biology is a very important class to take in order to understand all biology classes and it is a great starting point.

    Course highlights:

This class was a great starting point for me. After taking biology 1, you then have the skills and knowledge to take further sciences like anatomy, microbiology, and physiology.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

No matter what you do, always show up to class. Missing just one meeting of this class will put you so far behind and you will be lost. Always take good notes and title your notes so that you can go back and find a certain topic if you need to.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

It was a good class to introduce you to the basics of Biology. The labs helped solidify the student's knowledge of past lectures. There were also a couple of field trips to tide pools to improve our knowledge on animals and classification. However, the teacher had trouble connecting during class and keeping the class interested in what was being taught.

    Course highlights:

The class learned about DNA: what made up DNA, how DNA is replicated, how it affects reproduction and evolution; Evolution: how it came to be, the definition of evolution, the evolutionary timeline; Cells: what makes up a cell, plant cells versus animal cells, the parts and their functions; and Animals: different classifications, how certain animals evolved, and how to classify animals.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Don't write too many notes. Just write the main notes the professor puts on the board, then write a quick definition. Take enough notes for the professor to count as participation. Really focus on what the teacher is lecturing. This will help later when you take the lab.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I liked the course as an intro to biology and Julie is very good at working with adult students and their less than simple schedules. She also made sure that the students who wanted to learn got the opportunity.

    Course highlights:

Labs were pretty awesome. Also some of the activities toward the end of the semester were cool.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

Use the study guides and take the time to do the online work. It will guarantee success.
