    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course because, besides learning about historical art pieces and artists, it instills in the student a love for art and a desire to observe and create while considering the deeper meaning behind art both old and new.

    Course highlights:

This course taught me more about the appreciation and creation of art throughout the centuries, as well as the distinguishing factors of different distinct, notable art periods characterized by different styles and mediums. Specifically, I learned more about myself and my personal artistic preference. I prefer art by painters from the Expressionist period.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

If you are considering taking this course, I would advise you to really study the pieces. Draw them on notecards with information about them on the back. The very act of drawing and writing down information will connect the facts in your mind in a way that makes it difficult to forget.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would fully recommend this course, as it has an amazing teacher who is passionate about this field of study and makes listening to her talk a joy. Then the amount of knowledge you gain is incredible, as it is surprising how much you not only study art, but also the time periods they were created in, as well as the artist's life's. This course is truly inspiring, especially if you are interested in pursuing a similar field in the arts.

    Course highlights:

I enjoyed listening to the teacher go on about specific pieces of art with such enthusiasm that was rather inspiring, and made me gain more respect for things I didn't really think about before. This is an art history class, so you do inspect a multitude of pieces of arts, some common name and others I had never heard of, and to me it was fascinating to see what interested people in the renaissance era and so on.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

There is a lot to study, as far as memorizing, but the instructor gives many tips and tools that really help in the studying portion of the class. Just make sure to spend some time going over the study guides, to make sure you can at least recognize the artists that are covered, then with that you should have a good chance at succeeding at the tests.
