    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course because learning the good and the bad history of the United States gives us each a sense of pride and ownership in and of our nation, regardless of the current circumstances. Likewise, learning history helps us to understand why the world is the way it is today and how to fix it. Mr. Russell is a phenomenal teacher and will prepare all of students extremely well for the AP Exam in May.

    Course highlights:

I really enjoyed learning about the Revolutionary War time period and about events of the late 1900s that I did not know so much about. I also enjoyed learning about the specific people that made America like Alexander Hamilton, Andrew Jackson, and Thomas Jefferson. This class inspired me even more to want to become a social studies teacher. Mr.Russell does lecture everyday, but his lectures are not boring and kept my attention for the entire period.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

I would tell students to definitely do the homework and to put effort into completing the final which consists of rankings of the best presidents, worst presidents, most important events, most shameful moments, and most important people, among others. The final is a great tool to master the material and to test knowledge before the AP Exam. Also, do not be afraid to ask Mr. Russell for help; he may seem scary, but he really cares for his students.
