Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

The class encouraged students to be more considerate of their environment without making us feel needlessly guilty or condescended to. Mrs. Payton was very honest and encouraged healthy debate. To this day, I feel like I am a better learner and can better understand different points of views because of our debate sessions.

    Course highlights:

I thoroughly enjoyed the debates. Many times we would have to defend stances that we didn't necessarily believe ourselves, which helped open our minds to how people with different views, cultures, and experiences would think. I learned to search for information in unexpected places and to go above and beyond. I found myself over-preparing because I never knew what my opponents would bring up to debate.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Read the syllabus thoroughly and continue to check it throughout the course. Make sure you read the sections, even if there is an open note or open book test. There is a lot of information to cover and it is helpful to go over it more than once to really make it stick.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This is a great class! Not only is the subject interesting, Ms. Payton is a phenomenal teacher. She really cares a great deal about her students. She is always available to help and makes sure that her students are keeping up with assignments. She does not hesitate to track you down if she thinks that you are falling behind.

    Course highlights:

The class visited a nearby stream and tested the quality of the water. We learned how to analyze water content for pollutants. We also learned how to test pH levels and temperature changes.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

The course is not too hard because Ms. Payton helps everyone. However, the AP exam is extremely difficult. We were told that the guidelines for teaching the class were not the same as the objectives on the test. There was nothing that Ms. Payton could do about this. She did extra tutoring outside the classroom to help.
