Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend, because at some point you’re going to encounter someone with abnormal behavior, or yourself might be struggling. In addition, It would be pleasing and helpful to have at minimum a general understanding of what plays a part in mental illness. Plus who doesn’t want to explore the psyche, it’s fascinating.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of the course where the discussions, and the reading. I’m not an avid reader, but the textbook had my eyes glued to the pages. I love the way the text was broken down. Each mental illness was explained via the Multipath Model of Mental Disorders, which consists of four dimensions: biological, psychological, social, and socio-cultural. During the discussions, I could apply learned material to real life, and debate the applied theories. Likewise, it was gratifying to hear my classmates point of view.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Read the weekly readings, so you can keep up and participate in class conversations. It will be a lot easier to complete writing assignments if you understand the concepts. I’m a visual learner, so I watched videos on Youtube and MyPsychLab to aid in understanding topics, maybe it can work for you. If you don’t understand a term, theory, and/or concept contact the Professor to explain, it’s their job.
