    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

AP Seminar is a great course. When taking it just know that nothing is set in stone in terms of lesson plans, one day you could be working for 3 hours after school and another could be as little as 5 minutes. It was similar to writing a debate speech for the entire year, this course requires writing skills and time outside of school.

    Course highlights:

By the end of the year you will become an expert on the topic you chose. Personally, I benefited from this course by gaining research skills, and a massive improvement in my ability to communicate and illustrate ideas.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

The benefits of taking this course include: Gaining broad, multi-faceted knowledge cutting across several disciplines outside the learner's normal academic subjects. Increasing learners’ confidence, poise, and self-esteem. Providing an engaging, active, learner-centered activity. Improving rigorous higher order and critical thinking skills. Enhancing the ability to structure and organize thoughts. Enhancing learners’ analytical, research and note-taking kills Improving learners’ ability to form balanced, informed arguments and to use reasoning and evidence. Developing effective speech composition and delivery. Encouraging teamwork.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This class was exciting because it taught us how to conduct college level research, approach a variety of topics, and work collaboratively.

    Course highlights:

I learned how to collaborate with students of different skill sets and with different desire to succeed. It was interesting to prepare segments and then meaningfully incorporate them and communicate with the other group members so that by the time we present we are all equally expert in the subject.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

It is part of a 2 year capstone and definitely worth taking over the course of 2 years. Being a senior the first year it was offered, I will not get to complete the second part.
