Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

An incredibly useful course for anyone interested in biology. I learned more in this course than I did most courses. The professor is excellent and ensures that the students clearly understand the topics.

    Course highlights:

I enjoyed learning about glycolysis the most. The mechanisms and molecules surrounding each step were interesting to learn about, as they are the basis for how cells generate energy to function.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Repetition, repetition, and more repetition. The key to succeeding in this course is to constantly go over your amino acids, your nucleic acids, your carbs, your lipids, and your fatty acids. If you put in the time and know what they are and what they do, then you'll succeed.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Dr. Polson is a great teacher! This class was extremely beneficial to me, especially when it came to preparing for the MCAT. He is a tough, but fair grader. Put the proper time and effort into preparing for his exams and you will make out just fine. Dr. Polson is always available for office hours and he's very helpful with answering questions.

    Course highlights:

This course was extremely helpful in learning the many biochemical pathways that are the building blocks to our bodies metabolic mechanism (i.e. glycolysis, krebs cycle, etc.) Learning the structure and confirmations of all the essential amino acids was also extremely beneficial for MCAT preparation.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Read the required textbook chapters..ALWAYS. They will help you to have a general understanding of the material that will be covered that day in class before you show up. This way the class will act as a review session for the material and you can also ask any questions that you had after reading the material. Also, it is extremely beneficial to get a whiteboard to practice drawing and naming the essential amino acids. I found it helpful to study with a partner by quizzing back and forth on drawing the amino acids.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

He can be nitpicky when it comes to grading, but he's more than fair when it comes to your final grade.

    Course highlights:

Getting an A is possible, but there is a lot of work involved.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

Read the text, answer the chapter questions, do the blue sheets, and study!
