Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course because, although it is fairly challenging, It requires drive from the student. Dr. Theresa Hilliard had assigned "practices" almost every day based on her theory that in order to learn accounting you should do at least a minimal amount of accounting everyday. This class not only taught me the basics of accounting but how to apply myself better as a student.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course were learning the different steps in creating financial documents. These documents were mostly for businesses, but also could be applied personally. Another highlight of this course were the daily practices that followed each lesson.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

I would highly recommend doing all the readings and practices that get assigned. They are not overwhelming or difficult to do they make it truly easier to understand the topics being discussed. The other piece of advice I have is to communicate with the professor when you feel like you aren't understanding certain topics so that you don't fall behind in the course.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This class provided a good foundation for all future accounting classes; the instructor was able to teach the material so it was interesting for me.

    Course highlights:

The major highlight of this and future accounting courses is when we played Monopoly, and then gained experience recording financial transactions with every turn, creating general journal entries, and posting them to a general ledger.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

WIth class projects or assignments, do not put off the work until the night before it is due. Much of the homework for any accounting class is very complicated, and sometimes it isn't possible to do it correctly in just one or two hours.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This course was useful and the professor was casually hilarious and extremely helpful. The workload was never too much and yet and I feel like I learned so much. This class inspired me to pursue a career in accounting and I owe that to Dr. Gore. He made me feel like I could do it and he made me feel like I would be successful.

    Course highlights:

At the end of the book, we got to apply all of our knowledge by playing monopoly. This gave me the confidence of knowing that I could actually do accounting and I was really excited when I discovered how much I actually enjoyed doing so.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Keep up on the reading and always do the homework. It is the homework that can make or break you. Ask questions if you need to and don't be afraid to visit Dr. Gore during his office hours, he is very friendly and extremely helpful.
