    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend taking Bio 205 at Gateway because it's taught in a way that's easy to understand. You learn very interesting material that is helpful if you are pursuing a career in the sciences.

    Course highlights:

It was fun to learn more about microorganisms and how different all of them are. I learned a lot about how to distinguish different microorganisms and the various staining techniques to identify them.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Be sure to study your notes and make sure you understand the material. If you don't understand then don't be afraid to ask questions! The material can be tricky but it's very interesting to learn about.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I absolutely dreaded taking Micro. I thought it was going to be the most boring and dry class of my schooling career. Boy was I wrong. The professor is absolutely amazing. He does a great job at presenting the material in a way that keeps the student engaged and able to learn. The labs were something I looked forward to every week. The professor also did a great job at making himself available to his students for help or just general questions. I am so glad I took this course with him!

    Course highlights:

I actually learned a lot about microorganisms and how they affect the world around us. I learned how to identify microorganisms on my own using a series of tests from tables I created. It sounded crazy when we were first told we had to do this. But by the end of the first one I couldn't wait for the next. We learned the proper way to culture microorganisms, test for susceptibility to antibiotics, how to properly stain a culture, what conditions are necessary for various microbial growth and so much more.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Please take this course. You will not be disappointed.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This class can be overwhelming. There is a ton to learn but it is a really cool class if you can find a way to stay organized and on top of the information.

    Course highlights:

I definitely learned a new appreciation for bacteria and viruses. I've officially become paranoid about everything I cannot see.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

    Stay organized, make charts, flashcards.
