    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This class is so useful and you may not even realize it. So much of social science is taught through a European lens, so being able to identify this bias and have a broad grasp on the historical context is so helpful.

    Course highlights:

We often stop learning about history after the industrial revolution, because we turn our focus to the United States, but so much happens around the world in the 20th century besides the World Wars that this course expands on. I learned so much about the relationship between the developed and developing countries and how 20th century colonialism set up the conditions we live in today.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Do your notebooks a few days before the test, maybe even night of. This may seem ridiculous and like a lot of work, but it ensures you know the material for the test. It will keep you up late, so maybe do the vocab terms as you go along, but the review questions are best answered right before the exam and this way, you don't have to do any additional studying.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

By far one of the most fulfilling classes at Northside. Your grade is never an issue, so you can really focus on the material.

    Course highlights:

Microeconomics is a lot of common sense, but the course taught you how to objectify economic principles.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

Don't read the textbook; everything you need to know will be taught in class.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

I absolutely loved this class, and not just because of the amazing teacher I had who always had our best interests in mind. The content of the class is so deceptively simple yet quintessentially significant for those hoping to major in Economics or Business. It also involves a lot of common knowledge that you may not have explored beyond what's conventionally known. Common sense will help a lot here, and the knowledge can be carried over past college. I really enjoyed the practicality and simplicity in this class as well as the fun ways in which we learned the content.

    Course highlights:

The simulations and games that we played along the way were incredibly helpful. I learned so much, including the concepts of game theory, taxes, elasticity, opportunity cost, and so much more.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

A passion for the wonders of the economic world will help immensely and give so much sustenance to this course. On the other hand, for those taking this class for Consumers Ed or any other reason, the class will be a fun diversion from the rigor of other courses. Despite being an AP course, the fundamental concepts taught are easy to understand with common sense and and the homework isn't too bad.
