    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would definitely recommend this course because studying history is more than just studying the past. When one observes the past, an insight to the future is also gained. A greater understanding of political, social, and economic fluctuations and patterns can be gained when one fully grasps the logistics of history. Human behavior and actions repeat over and over again. Like the famous saying by George Santayana goes, “those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” European history, as taught by Mrs. Lee, enlightens the student on many of the situations occurring in our modern contemporary scene. Besides, she is a wonderful teacher.

    Course highlights:

I learned a lot in this course! Like I said before, it’s not just learning about the past, but the future as well. The most important skill I learned in this class is to be able to compare situations of the past to situations of the future and make predictions. To be knowledgeable in history is to be a more informed citizen. Recognizing patterns that lead to fascism or genocide can allow one to make informed decisions and avoid the collapse of societies or the persecution of ethnic groups. History is most certainly not a dull subject.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

This class is all about timing! The study guides are very long but full of information. They help a lot for quizzes, and ultimately unit tests. However, getting them done the day before the test is not a possibility. I mean, perhaps it would be if it was a student’s only assignment. But managing one’s course load is pivotal. Investing in an agenda would be a very wise choice.
