Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course to any incoming sophomores because of its rigour. This class will help students become better writers. The teacher provides instruction that will lead students to analyze passages in order to understand the authors writing methods.

    Course highlights:

In this course I was able to expand my vocabulary and articulate my thoughts in my writing. The best thing I was able to learn was how to decode certain language and writing methods an author used to emphasize certain things.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

To future students that will take this course, do not slack off. This class does require studying and practicing to reach the time limit of the AICE exam. It also has many homework assignments that will benefit you at the end of the day.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This class will instruct you on the basics of writing a cohesive essay. If you plan to take higher level English courses in high school, then it is essential that you do well in this course. General Paper is also a course to consider if you are interested in analysis or discursive/argumentative writing.

    Course highlights:

The readings we did were probably the most memorable aspects of the course. Books such as "Finding Fish" and "The Art of Racing in the Rain" still have an impact on me as a student. The instructor, Mr. Cainas, is also an amazing person who enabled us to understand how to better our writing. Techniques such as PEEL, PEECEL, and SPECS were also introduced to us; these became essential to our curriculum as upperclassmen.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Even if you aren't a great writer, this class can definitely help you improve on your form and elaboration. The teachers are very experienced in this area and care about your success. You also shouldn't stress too much over the AICE exam at the end of the year; everything you cover in this course will enable you to pass it.
