    Course Overview:

    Although this course is rigorous, it helps people learn how to read between the lines with a critical lens, and how to write about what they have read, or even experienced​ in life.

    Course highlights:

    I've learned how to apply a critical lens to different types of writings, and have learned how there are many things that make up a piece, such as syntax, diction, figurative language, etc. I have also learned how to refine my writing skills.​

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

    You need to be prepared to take a lot of notes, to write a lot, to read a lot, and to take apart what you are reading or writing.

    Course Overview:

    AP Lang and Composition is a great course for writers that need to solidify their base. The course prepares and teaches you how to write essays for college or any other situations where you need a strong writing style.

    Course highlights:

    I personally really enjoyed the class discussions. They gave you a better view of books and their true meanings. The course also helps you interpret certain materials. This helps create a strong writing style base and gives you the push you need to write great works.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

    Take it! You will learn so much from it. Remember to always do the reading and write to the best of your abilities. The harder you push yourself, the more improvement you'll see in yourself. It takes a huge weight off your shoulders when you go to the course above AP Lang and Composition, and you know exactly what the teacher expects of you and how to do it well.

    Ms. Sutton was very talented at making the class interesting and fulfilling. She opened my eyes to the possibilities and various interpretations of English literature.

    I gained a comprehensive background in analyzing literature and essay writing.
