    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would highly recommend this course to everyone at Mast Academy. Not only is Mrs. Crespo highly knowledgable, but she is willing to go above and beyond to make sure you understand and help you along the way.

    Course highlights:

The highlights were definitely our discussions. Mrs. Crespo facilitated these very well, where she guided us, but allowed us to realize so many things for ourselves.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Definitely keep up on your reading or else the class will be even more difficult. Also take advantage of Mrs. Crespo's willingness to help you along the way.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

It is a very interactive class and it is one of the most fun classes offered.

    Course highlights:

I learned how to take notes in my book which is very important when going to college. Also I grew as a writer and I still am growing as a writer.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Take annotations when you read. They will help later on.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I recommend this course to anyone who appreciates literary devices and the use of language in short stories and in classic novels such as The Great Gatsby and The Scarlet Letter. This course provides students with a clear understanding of how to analyze language and how to increase their writing skills.

    Course highlights:

I learned how to become a better writer and how to fully explain myself in an essay of any type. This course allowed me to use my creative writing and explanatory writing together to create wonderful analytical pieces of work. I most enjoyed analyzing short stories by Ernest Hemingway and poems by the great Edgar Allen Poe.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

In order to succeed in this course, reading the short stories and novels assigned is key. When in doubt, ask the teacher for help on a writing assignment. Having writer's block is common in this course if not predisposed to analytical writing, but the teacher is there to help and guise the student to success in this course. Most of this course is preparing the student for the end of year test, which is composed of a series of questions testing your knowledge.
