Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Though this course was a requirement for my major, I loved it. This course forced it's students to have an understanding of the material. Many students did not fancy it due to the fact it was unlike traditional lectures; for you had to watch videos, go to clicker and workshop sessions, but when going on to Organic Chemistry, they saw how they had taken GenChem for granted. I would highly recommend this ccourse to anyone, for it is not hard, there are many ways to bring up your grade through extra credit assignments.

    Course highlights:

Though many students did not like that we had to watch videos as a way to get some form of lecture, I loved that I could pause and repeat as many times as I felt needed in order to understand everthing she was trying to bring across. There are about four to six videos per topic, each video being about eight minutes long, the maximum being about ten or twelve minutes, but they were not boring. Clicker and workshop sessions are centered around a lot of practice; for every time we met, all we did were practice problems, which is the only way to excel in such a class. She encouraged us to help one another out, if our peers did not know the answer, we would assist them in gainging it. This course taught me how to apply myself to my studies.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

In order not to be lossed during clicker and workshop session, make sure to have watched the videos at least once. If things are a bit unclear, do not hesitate to ask Prof. McGregor, or her TA's, for they are approachable and very helpful.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Many students did not fancy this course due to the fact that it is not like traditional lectures, but once you have taken it, and then go on to Organic Chemistry, you will see how you have taken GenChem for granted. This course forces students to have some type of understanding of the course material; you will not have left her class without actually learning something. The key to excelling in this class is to watch the videos before clicker and workshop sessions, for if you do not, you will be totally lossed.

    Course highlights:

This course had a clicker session and workshop, and both were centered around a lot of practice, which is how you excel in such a course. Whenever we met for class, all we did were practice problems. Many students did not like that we had to watch videos (a form of lecture) before we met for class, but I loved it due to the fact that I can pause and repeat whenever I needed to, allowing me to fully understand what she was bringing across. This course taught me how to really apply myself to my studies.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

The greatest thing to do in order to be ready for clicker and workshop is to watch the videos beforehand, even if it is only once, so that you would not be unaware of what is ahead. If there are things that are unclear, go to professor McGregor, or to any of the TA's, for they are very approachable and helpful.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This course that I took increased my understanding of chemistry. Now I have a solid ground for chemistry. In fact, taking this course gives you the shortest possible way to grab and understand things for future reference and implementation

    Course highlights:

I learnt about the bonding order between compounds

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Well my advice is they need to be dedicated for the program
