    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course if you want to challenge yourself. It requires a good bit of reading, but you're actively exposed to books, poetry, and plays that you might not have read outside the course. I read a lot of really interesting books.

    Course highlights:

We took a lot of multiple choice tests and it really improved my reading comprehension and my ability to effectively answer questions in the limited time. Reading a lot of different books was a lot of work but it was enjoyable to discuss and see the different interpretations of the books.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Writing practice essays and taking practice multiple choice exams were a large feature in this course. It's extremely important not to get bogged down in the essays from providing too many examples and consequently spending too much time trying to analyze each example. Try to pick two examples for each component of the thesis. For the multiple choice, underline lines or words that stand out to you. You can then go back and see if the questions correspond to anything that originally stood out.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Writing has always been my weakest subject. I take after my father with his math-inclined mind. However Ms. Harbin's conversational style of teaching is very informative but also more relatble. I also get a lot of personal help to boost my writing.

    Course highlights:

The highlights were definitely the writer's workshop because we were able to break up into small groups and discuss how we could better our essays. Through this I learned how to develop a deeper analysis of the plot and characters.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Even though the teacher is laid back dobt procrastinate because the assignments will creep up on you.
