    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This class really brought out another level of awareness and understanding I didn't have. It's allowed me to see things through others perspective by reading and seeing the literature devices they would use to gather their purpose. I naturally began applying this nature of perspective thinking to my life to understand others.

    Course highlights:

I can read and write not just on a literal level. Along with I can develop essays or writing in general a lot quicker with a neat and flowing structure. I'm reading more fluently and growing a strong understanding of poetic devices.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

If you don't understand something as simple as a word look it up. This helped be from the bases. Along with read a book you might not understand at first and soon that will be the reason you want to read it. Analyze little details and take notes on things such as irony, foreshadowing, and metaphors.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course because it will help you learn important skills in analyzing any piece you are assigned, from poetry to novels. In addition, at the end of the year you will take an AP test and if you pass this test you will be given college credit for the class. This class not only helps you save money but also time.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course were reading all of the Robert Frost poems and developing poetry skills. In the beginning of the year I had no idea what his poems truly meant until Ms.Howard taught me the skills and I was practically analyzing his poems in my sleep. At the end of the year I was able to give a ten minute oral commentary on one of his poems for an IB exam.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

I would give students the advice of making sure to do your work when it is assigned and not when it's due. Procrastination in this class is not an option because you will end up behind as we do several poems in a week. Doing your work on time and as effective as possible is essential to passing this class.
