    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I definitely recommend this course as a freshmen under Ayala school of Sciences! Although this course is very demanding, in the end I believe it is worth the struggle. This class gives you an insight on how challenging a class can get and shapes your learning and studying skills, and overall performance into shape at a faster rate. This course is also technically an "intro to Biology", therefore it helps a student see whether they may want to continue pursuing a biological degree or not.

    Course highlights:

Highlights of this course was seeing the things that we learned in the textbook become applied to real world situations. Dr. Shaffer definitely did a great job at applying our knowledge.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Take this class seriously but don't forget to have fun with it! Dr. Shaffer does a great job of being interactive and involved during lectures. Make sure to take advantage of his and his TAs assistance when needed. It is challenging but anyone can completer this course successfully if they input determination!

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Great trio of teachers all working together to teach the course material, which they do really well.

    Course highlights:

Highlights of this course were experiencing the ways of each professor as they taught and being able to adapt also keeping one aware of what they must be learning and going on their own to be proactive in the class by asking questions and studying with others to fully understand all concepts.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Read each section and be a proactive student.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course because it is really helpful and important to students with a science related major. This course gives us the basic concepts of different organisms as well as to DNA. Not only is it helpful, but Dr. Shaffer makes this class very interesting!

    Course highlights:

I have learned how the cellular respiration works vs the photosynthesis process. I have learned that water is not a source of food for plants because it doesn't have carbon. What i really enjoy learning was about mitosis and the different phases within mitosis.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

I advice students to really put their effort and time into this course. It would be really helpful to go to office hours and peer tutoring sessions. This will help you understand the content better and will prepare you for midterms and finals. Also don't procrastinate or fall behind!
