Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This course was extremely eye-opening, especially in terms of trying to find the root of racism and the internalized beliefs a lot of the general population hold against indigenous and black populations. Prof. O'Toole made learning such a tough subject much more light-hearted, which made it easier to digest.

    Course highlights:

The highlight of the course was reading old letters of white, European men and how they perceived black and indigenous women. It was extremely interesting as through the letters it was evident that those men were the ones over sexualizing people and cultures they did not understand and how that ethnographic voyeurism still holds inklings today.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

I would suggest taking really detailed notes on the lectures and during the discussions. Also, to participate often in both to keep your mind stimulated as there can be points where the lectures can get a little dull.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This class combines the history of war and study of human nature. I found it a lot more interesting than just regular writing classes, and this class offers double the units than other writing courses. This class requires you to attend all lectures and read a lot, but I think what I learned out of it was definitely worth the work.

    Course highlights:

I think the highlight of this course was learning how humans stay relatively the same throughout years of history.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Read all the books and attend all lectures! It's not THAT hard.
