    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I thought that Chem 1A truly opens your eyes to what General Chemistry is about. It really gives you the basis of fundamental concepts, especially involving atomic properties. It is really fun because it engages you to connect concepts and to make sense of what you learn by thinking about real world applications.

    Course highlights:

I thought that this class was truly mentally challenging. We learned about periodic table trends, electronegativity, atomic radii, ionization energy, molecular geometry, VSEPR theory, some chemical equations, and we learned about applications from some of these topics.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Really read her lecture slides. Everything that you will need to know will be on those slides and you will need to think about applications involving those slides. Cramming will not help you. Her tests are not designed to trick you, but they are very long and require you to put in a lot of effort.
