Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This is an amazing class that will really help you grow as a writer. Each paper you get back will be a better grade than the last, with less correction marks than the last. Being apart of this class, with this professor will not only make you a better writer, but it also encourages you to make your own opinions on subjects such as education, government, and more.

    Course highlights:

One of the highlights of this class was having the opportunity to have open conversation with other students to talk about everyone's individual beliefs and opinions so we can see the strengths and weaknesses in our arguments so that when it comes time to write our papers, we are able to construct a solid thesis and organize our papers well. Another highlight of this class was you always have the opportunity to better your writing. Each step taken to create a paper counted as a grade and encouraged students to get things done, so when it came time to write the paper, there was no writer's block. We also had the opportunity to rewrite the paper up to three times, so we could get the best grade possible.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Make sure you stay on top of due dates. It will make your life so much easier and much less stressful, especially when you have other classes to worry about. Don't be afraid to ask questions! They will get you further than you think, and when added in your papers, your writing will be more interactive and stronger. Also, do the readings and double entry notes. They don't take that much time and most of them are pretty interesting, plus they put a nice bump up in your grade.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Ms. Huston will work with you outside of class if you ask her. She actually wants you to understand the course and will break it up if she thinks it'll help you. As for myself I got mono my first week, she met with me and allowed me to have students copy their notes for me. I sent in all my classwork on black board and read the book along with the syllabus. She understands if you get sick or can't make it to class. If you care about the class and want to succeed then she will care too. I find if you respect her and she respects you, you will have no problem at all.

    Course highlights:

I love that she used Thank You For Arguing rather than a textbook. TYFA related the topics to your everyday life and breaks down simple conversations like a boy arguing with his father into logos, ethos, and pathos. It is simple to understand and you can you these techniques in public speaking too.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

DO NOT PROCRASTINATE!!!! She tells you more than a month in advance about your final paper. Don't wait till the last few weeks to come up with a topic. The paper is 30% on your grade. She helps you find research material and approves whether you should use that source or not. I know of two people who waited till the last minute and couldn't turn it in on time because the paper was too long. The paper is about 10+ pages. Don't procrastinate!
