Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

To begin, I just want to say this a course that is required at Franklin Central high school, but its also a very informative class where students will really get the meat and potatoes of how our government does business. It requires a small amount of reading and outside homework, the majority of your knowledge and worktime will come in class. Everyone should be able to earn a B or higher grade in government class, if students just put in the necessary time and effort they will be fine.

    Course highlights:

Things that I learned taking government would be how the president and congress deals with bills and how votes are managed. I also learned about the several committees that have a huge say on whether or not a bill gets voted on or not. Outside of the regular veto, the president also can use a pocket veto where he refuses to sign the bill and lets it just sit on his desk until it's too late to make further action on the bill. Details described here are just a portion of the deep knowledge students will gather from this course.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

To succeed in government class, you need to make sure you are doing the review sheets and the small amounts of reading Mr. Fengya assigns you for that week. Also for all tests taken in this class you have the opportunity to do test corrections which can really sway your grade in a positive direction. If you have missed a deadline for a specific assignment, still try to complete it because Mr. Fengya will still take late work within that grading period. If the students can focus in on all of these details they will succeed in this course.
