    | Would recommend.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I definitely recommend taking AP Lang! This subject is a great way to enhance your understanding of passages and to understand the eclectic styles of writing that have been developed over the centuries. At the beginning of the year my peers and I randomly picked a word out of a basket. We were told that our handpicked word was the only subject we could write about in the various essays that we were given for the rest of the school year. Fortunately, my word was "stress" and I proceeded to write narratives, persuasive essays etc. It was actually very fun and helped me to critically think outside the box. It also helped to improve my poor writing skills. I also recommend AP Lang because it looks great on college applications. Colleges want to see that the student has challenged themselves. I guarantee that a college is more likely to accept a student who has taken AP Lang over a student who has taken an on level language class.

    Course highlights:

The highlight of this course was picking a random word from the basket. I was limited to talk about one word in my essays. It was a challenge but it pushed my writing skills to numerous heights. I've learned that AP classes are not easy. I also learned to discipline myself in order to meet the assignment deadlines.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

It is important to start on your work as soon as its given rather than start on it last minute! Staying up late nights to complete AP works causes a lot of stress and it's not as easy as you may think. But don't be afraid to challenge yourself. I promise it'll all pay off in the end. You'll make you parents, yourself proud and you'll be more likely to get accepted into college.

    | Would not recommend.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

If you enjoy Literature, I would not recommend you taking AP Language. There is no teaching; just tests on vocabulary words and powerpoint presentations. The class will lower your confidence in your writing. You feel as if you can write well and you want to progress your writing style however, the professor just gives you a low grade on your work. He does not teach so there is nothing to help our writing and then, he does not explain what you need to improve on. That was just my experience with that particular professor. The class in all was writing heavy.

    Course highlights:

We had group assignments. In those groups, we would assess one another's writing. It was the only feedback we received in the class.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Take writing workshops outside of school. You will be assessed for the knowledge you gain during the year and if your professor is not teaching, you will need a teacher even more. Workshops help alot.
