    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I took this class via a dual enrollment course offered at my high school. I don't know who teaches the course at NFCC, but the professor who taught me through my high school was great. She put the fun back in history by telling unknown and unusual facts. I won't lie, before I took the American History class through Mrs. Yates, history was my least favorite subject. Now, however, I like history so much that I have considered it as a major. This course is interesting and challenging, definitely worth taking.

    Course highlights:

This class had so many highlights, it's hard to narrow down the best parts. To start off, the course was interesting. The professor provided notes and facts that I had never heard before. While it was interesting, the course was also challenging. It really taught me how to study and retain information. I can still remember most of the content today. Finally, the professor was the greatest highlight. She taught with a sense of humor, but also rigorousness. She didn't let up or go easy, but she made it fun while teaching us a previously boring subject. I learned so much throughout the class that has helped in my school career. The rigors of the class taught me great note-taking skills and study tools. I'll never forget this class.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

If you're going to take this course, you MUST be willing to put in time and effort. There is a lot of information that is covered so studying is imperative. If there is one tip I can give, it is to not study the night before. Study your notes a little bit every night so that you can get a grasp on the material. Also, every test is cumulative as to what you have learned so far, so always go over all your notes at least once before a test.
