    | Would recommend.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course because Dr. Whalen is an extraordinary professor. It can be easy to treat this course as review, especially towards the end. Dr. Whalen will push you to do your absolute best.

    Course highlights:

Throughout the course we learned multiple skills to help enhance our writing. Examples include: How to write a proper thesis, how to conduct a proper introductory paragraph, and proper sentence structures. These tools are things that many people have learned how to do in the past, but Dr. Whalen taught them in a way that relates them to real life and ways you can use them outside of the classroom.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Do not treat this course as review. If you go into this thinking that you already know how to do everything, you will not succeed. You have to go into this course open minded and ready to push yourself.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Prof. Shih-Knodel is such an amazing, wonderful and inspirational instructor! She encourages us to keep developing our strengths and help us improve our weaknesses. What I appreciate the most is that I have learnt a lot from Nancy and her class; especially the art of writing as well as the great passion and interest for this subject. I learned to express my ideas in a creative way instead of my formulaic writing style.

    Course highlights:

How this course works is that you read the assigned essays at home then on the day after, you will have a discussion about what you read. Reading helps us see how professional writers compose their essays, which is a good thing to learn. The discussions let us improving communicating skills by expressing our perspectives, persuading others and listening to their voices as well. Plus, you can hear a lot of amazing ideas from your classmates and instructor and put them in your essays.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

This class is not hard if you devote your time for it. My tip is that I visit my instructor's office twice for every paper. Before turning my essay in, I had her read through my papers, whereby she could tell me what she liked and did not like about my draft. Then I can edit my essay again to make it better. I also saw her after having my essay graded and asked her what I could to to get a 100. Therefore, I can improve your writing skill through every essays. It takes time and effort. Plus, asking how to get a 100 sounds crazy, but I finally got that perfect score my final essay.

    | No strong feelings either way.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

Jean is nice, but she was kind of biased. Also, she isn't the best at describing some topics for the class.

    Course highlights:

Honestly, I learned nothing. However, I did learn how to give good advice while editing someone's paper.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Just write your essay and hope for a grade you want.
