Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I believe, like most things, there are several issues with this course, but there are also several positives about it. I would recommend taking it because it gives a person an extremely broad overview of what goes on in psychology. Also, it opens up doors to us as students to find other interests. Psychology is a continuously growing and unknown, vast field. This class is a bit unorganized and all-over the place, but it provides great opportunities to get the chance to discover likes or interests you may not have even known you had.

    Course highlights:

Some of the most interesting topics in my opinion, were the ones concerning specific behaviors, and what influences those behaviors. In this course we talked a great deal about childhood and the controversy of nature vs. nurture. For example, I enjoyed learning about the different temperaments babies have and how those temperaments foreshadow how a child's attitude and personality will be when they are older. Humans are transparent, but also completely unpredictable at the same time, and this course gives you a small look into that.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Sometimes the content can grow boring at times - hang in there. Always take notes, and after class read through the notes, and keep up with the chapters in the book. The book also has practice questions and practice tests, you should always take them. Do the actual online practice exams posted by the professor. Those practice tests are a good preview of the actual test. Never attempt to cheat the system either because you can't, no matter how good you are, you just can't. Honor and integrity, and maturity take you way farther with this professor than anything else ever will.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This class is good for learning about fundamental psychology. It is something most people are required to take during their college career and this class teaches you a lot.

    Course highlights:

This course isn't just learning about mental illnesses, it goes into depth about the brain processes, cures for mental illnesses and so much more.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

For you to succeed in this course you need to take notes and read the book. I cannot stress this enough. At first I wasn't reading the book but as I read the book before lectures I started to get better grades on the exams.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Many students take this course because NMU requires lab credits, and believe this beginning Psychology class will be easy. I'm going to tell you that this course is way too hard for a 100 level course. It's a big lecture, and the professor reads off slides that you can only see in class. Your grade in the class reflects only from the 4 exams.

    Course highlights:

I only learned what I read from my notes, the other stuff that was covered I learned in previous Psychology classes. Mainly just an overview of general Psychology.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Read the chapters in the book along with her reading objectives. Look over your notes, and be prepared because the exam questions are all real life examples that she doesn't go over in class.
