    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

AP Calculus AB is a challenging course that has pushed me far beyond my comfort zone. It has helped build stronger study habits and increased my work ethic. I could't have done well in this class without the help of my parents, tutors, teachers, and my classmates, and I collaborated with them on projects and study sessions to improve my test scores. Although it was a rigorous and stressful class, I reaped the benefits and scored a 4 on the AP exam.

    Course highlights:

Calculus taught me that I cannot succeed without the help of others. I don't have to do everything on my own and there is no shame in seeking help from my family, teachers, even other classmates. In addition, I groomed my study habits and improved my work ethic.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Ask for help. Also, don't talk to much in class unless it is about the course material. In order to make the class more fun, compete with your classmates to see who can get the question right the quickest or who can get the most questions right on each practice sheet. This will pay huge dividends on the actual assessments.

    Course highlights:

As crazy as it might sound, I loved practically every unit in this course, but my favorite units were derivatives and integrals. Never before has a subject intrigued me so much that I spent my entire spring break working math problems so that I would be prepared for class when I got off break.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Don't be afraid to ask for help. The moment I let go of my pride and asked people for assistance, I immediately started getting more A's on tests and quizzes. Also, don't give up on a problem. Every portion of a question matters, and you don't want to sacrifice points just because you freak out.
