Not too easy. Not too difficult.

I would recommend this course because it is an introductory course which teaches you the beginning and the middle part of sports medicine. You can learn a lot from anatomy of the human body to the anatomy of the human heart. This course will also help you choose where you want to be in the medical field.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would completely recommend this course to anyone who wants to be in the medical field. This course will give you a very in depth, hands on lessons that will definitely benefit you in your future and for later success. This class AKS ranges from how to read EKGs to how to fit someone for crutches, cranes or even walkers. In addition, we were required to wear scrubs that you will see traditionally on nurses and doctors every week. Our scrubs had our name on shirt as well as the Shiloh High School logo. You would get a grade based on your participation but it was exciting to stand out from everyone else and made you feel like you represented something great so hardly anyone taking this class skipped out on wearing their scrubs! If your looking for a fun, interactive but informational class, you should highly consider this one. Also this class provides a MOWR program where you can earn college credit from your seat in the classroom! You may actually make sure your on time to school everyday just so you won't miss this class.

    Course highlights:

I have gained so many skills and knowledge from taking this course. The very first thing we were taught was how to read EKGs and look for abnormal signs within them. We also did things such as how to take temperatures, recording blood pressure, pulse, learning all the bones in the body and all of the systems. I have learned so many things from taking this class that it would take a whole lecture to actually state everything that I've obtained. I'm surprised my brain hasn't exploded from all the information that was put into there! The best highlight of this course is being able to interact with your classmates while learning all types of different things.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

The main thing I would advise students who are considering this course is that you have to study. There isn't any shortcuts, no away around it, no loop holes. You have to set time out of your day to really get down all of the information. This definitely isn't one of those classes where the test or quizzes arejust common sense. It takes motivation and effort to have the desire to perform excellent in all of your work. My study tips that really helped me throughout the year were to use the chunking method and nmeonic devices. Taking information I learned from my AP psychology class, I quickly grasped the concept that you can remember something easier by compacting it into something small. Using different styles of memory techniques will help you to become more than successful in this class so find one that best suits you.
