Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this class because the teacher is fantastic and the class is extremely helpful when it comes to improving your writing skills, even in other classes besides this one. After taking this class I saw a drastic improvement in my reading and writing skills which are great skills to master before going to college. Though, a lot of time needs to be put into the class in order to be successful but work time is frequently given to help accomplish this. Plus, the class counts for college credit along with a high school credit so there is no reason not to take it.

    Course highlights:

This class was extremely helpful, after taking it for only two months I took the SAT again and my reading score went up significantly. Not to mention you also learn valuable writing skills such as logical fallacies, ten on one skill, how to evolve a thesis, and how to break the 5 paragraph essay format. You also see your reading skills improve like I mentioned earlier because there is a big focus on analyzing articles and how to get the main points of the paper. The skills learned in this class are extremely valuable.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

I would advise future students to use the work time given to them and to not procrastinate because the papers require time and effort. I would also advise choosing a topic that you are passionate about because when you are passionate about the topic the paper will reflect that interest, plus it makes the paper easier to write and a much more enjoyable experience.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I highly recommend this course because after the course I saw a huge improvement in my writing, not to mention the teacher is fantastic. I had a great experience and learned so many new writing techniques that I never would have thought to learn about, such as logical fallacies, ten on one, and evolving a thesis. The class is a little demanding but that is to be expected with an ACP course but if you manage your time wisely it should not be a problem.

    Course highlights:

Some of the most important things I learned in this course were ten on one writing skills, how to evolve a thesis, and most importantly how to break the standard five paragraph essay format. Another really important writing skill I learned was how to take unnecessary details out of my papers. This class also helped me improve my critical reading skills, because you are taught how to analyze text based on claims and evidence or lack of it.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

I would advise against procrastinating when it comes to writing the paper because they are huge grade wise. I also suggest picking topics you are passionate about, because when it is a topic you are interested in, the quality of the work is much better and the paper becomes easier to write.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course because it let me look at a topic that I hadn't previously given much thought to. War especially is an incredibly influential part of our history and it is an important influence to understand in order to be a well educated member of society.

    Course highlights:

My favorite portion were the readings that we completed. Specifically because they provided a direct insight into the thoughts and feelings of soldiers in wars. I have a new favorite book as a result, The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

You should be as engaged as possible in the material, and if you find that you are not incredibly interested, try to find at least one aspect of war that you could connect with. For me I specifically looked at medicine and the effects of the war on the soldiers.
