Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would highly recommend this course because it's such a unique class, not many people have the chance to learn Arabic. There are study abroad opportunities where you can get a hands on learning of the language where it originated from. The teacher makes learning fun, whether it's through field trips, presentations, videos, bringing in Middle Eastern food, etc. It's an overall great classroom environment and I would consider it one of my favorite classes.

    Course highlights:

Taking Arabic was an eyeopener to me, it inspired me to do many things. Not only did I learn about the language but the culture as well. I learned how to read, write and speak modern arabic. I also learned about the Arabic world (religion, traditions, the people, etc). Before I took Arabic, I didn't really acknowledge the Middle East but once I started the course, I gained a new perspective of other parts of the world and it opened my mind to experience new things. This class has also made me more confident, in a way of public speaking. I'm not one to speak my opinions but this class made me realize that I should share my opinions with other people.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

At first it will be quite frustrating because it is definitely not an easy language to learn, especially the reading and speaking but over time, you will get the hang of it. I would recommend students to make flashcards to help you remember the words, watch videos, and use other tools such as songs, movies, books, etc.
