    | Would recommend.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course mostly based on requirements for specific majors.

    Course highlights:

I learned so much in this course in regards to simple organic chemistry and the theories behind it.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Definitely study! Use the book and any other study materials that are available to you, it is the only way that you will truly understand and do well.

    | No strong feelings either way.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This course is required for some Chemistry and Forensic Science majors. The coursework can be difficult but it feels amazing when you get through it all.

    Course highlights:

I gained insight into how difficult my path would be. This was my big wake-up call to get my act straight in regards to what I want to do with my future.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Study the professors that teach this course extensively. Some teaching styles don't match with how you learn and that can effect how you do in the course. I learned that the hard way when I had to retake the course.

    | No strong feelings either way.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Organic Chemistry is a complicated, but really interesting subject. It is a requirement for all Chemical Engineering Majors and sometimes it is the source of their nightmares. Dr. Luzik is a great person and a lot of students like his teaching methods. Although it was not my favorite I do recommend taking thus course with him because he will help you in everything that he can and will answer all your questions. His method of grading is not the easiest one, but if you study hard (and buy the book) you will pass.

    Course highlights:

You come from an inorganic chemistry background, were everything was based on calculations and simple concepts. During Organic Chemistry I you will discover that chemistry is more than pure theory. You will learn how the atoms interact with each other in order to form molecules. Reactions will be part of your daily life and you will learn how to name different compounds and how to differentiate them. You will know a lot about alkanes, for sure and maybe start with alkenes as well.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Buy the book and the study guy if you take the class with Dr. Luzik. Form study groups because is the best way to study for this class and succeed. And do not study two days before the test, instead organize a plan and a schedule. After this course you will probably have to take Organic Chemistry II and, believe me, you will need all your background from this course, so make sure you understand everything.
