    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

It is so important to understand what goes on around us. I think this course should be a requirement for all college students. The course gives students a better perspective on illness, how our bodies work, and answers questions you wouldn't have thought to ask.

    Course highlights:

The entire Microbiology course was enjoyable for me. I cannot say the same for many of my classmates and I know that many people find this course to be too difficult to be enjoyable. Working in the lab was interesting but what I enjoyed the most was in lecture learning about different diseases, where they originated from, and how they spread. In order to understand disease prevention and treatment, it is necessary to understand how a virus or bacteria works to cause disease in the first place. As a Dental Hygiene major I know that preventing disease and contamination is going to be a large part of my profession. This course has aided me with information to be able to explain why certain precautions are taken when working with patients, as well as understanding the necessity of the precautions myself. I also enjoyed learning about medications. Most people know that antibiotics can clear up an infection, but through this course I learned which antibiotics work best for which type of infection, which bacteria are resistant to certain antibiotics, and how the medication works against the bacteria.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

This course requires a good amount of effort. It can be a lot of information to take in and memorize but if you work hard enough you can do extremely well in the course. I would recommend making charts for studying and using flashcards whenever possible. It is definitely a course that requires time, but the information will be helpful in the years to come so try to really absorb all that you can as opposed to studying just to memorize for a test.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would most certainly recommend this class for many reasons. This class was the class that changed my major from Forensic Science to Biology Pre-medicine. This has been the most interesting class i have taken, in which it is challenging but at the same time worth it because of the amount of important and interesting topics you learn about.

    Course highlights:

Highlights of this class i believe were the lessons about the types of treatments to specific diseases. For example! We learned how you can diagnose Streptococcus Progenies and how you can treat with specific drugs like penicillin.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

This is a class you cannot just go to and take notes and expect to be successful. You need to study outside of class. For example, after every class i would go back through the notes and maybe rewrite them depending on how difficult the material was.
