    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

The course, especially that lab portion was a great learning experience as well as a lot of fun. The lecture material was pretty intense but the labs were thoroughly enjoyable.

    Course highlights:

We discussed and observed various types of microbes, such as bacteria, protozoa, parasites, and plat life. We were able to test bacteria to try and determine what strain we were dealing with, as well as tested them against certain antibiotics to determine which ones would be effective and which would not.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

A strong basic knowledge of biology is highly recommended. Things like cellular metabolism, cellular replication, and DNA sequencing was briefly reviewed, but expected to be known. If you do not know these areas well, be prepared to spend some extra time studying those areas.
