    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Dr. Worden is an excellent teacher. She has high standards, but she is very clear on her expectations. The depth of knowledge I gained from her class will carry me into my future academic and career goals in healthcare.

    Course highlights:

Understanding microbes, where they live and thrive, and ultimately how to kill them. There was a nice balance of lecture and lab.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Print out the PowerPoints (I printed 6 to a page) and write your notes next to each relevant slide.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Kelly was an awesome professor and the course was interesting and challenging.

    Course highlights:

Working on the unknown project was an incredible experience. You got the chance to use laboratory techniques taught in lab. After writing a detailed report on what tests you would use to narrow down the identity of the unknown bacteria, you performed tests, collected results, and wrote a report outlining what you did and what your unknown was. You learned to write as a scientist would write, which can tend to be dry, but has a purpose.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Go to class, do the work as it comes up, and use other sources online or at school to immerse yourself in microbiology. If you go into this class with the right mindset, you will find it very rewarding.
